5:10

Grrrr.  You 3 better sleep in tomorrow cuz I don't have to work!  Today was good.  The girls had a good day.  I broke a cap on my tooth eating candy today - of course.  So I have an appt with the dentist tomorrow.  Hopefully it won't be too long - I'll be briniging the trio with me.  Andy is gonna be around to help out for the day since we have an appt for Emily in the morning with the orthopedic foot doctor.  Oh and our furniture is supposed to come tomorrow morning - providing the truck doesn't get stolen again. So tomorrow is going to be a long day.

So PLEASE SLEEP IN TOMORROW!

5:00

Again.  Why?!?!  You girls are killing us!!!!!!!!  Ugh.  Up early and got ready for work.  Among a million other things since there was TIME.  Except that I would have liked to have been sleeping instead of doing those million things.  Anyway.

I got to work early (yes - I'm aware of the positive things happening since our early awakenings but still would RATHER sleep).  Which means I got to leave a bit early and get the girls.  I did get a phone call at work today to inform me that Emily decided to bite Hailey in the leg.  She left quite the mark too.  I scolded her on the phone and told her she better say sorry and give Hailey a kiss and hug (our way out of time out is saying sorry and giving the person you hurt a kiss & hug).  So later tonight when we were home I said to Emily "You bit Hailey today and I'm very disappointed.  That's not acceptable behavior."  To which she promptly replied "But Emmie say sorry to Hailey & give Hailey kiss and hug!!!"  Caught on a technicality.

Pete bought the girls cupcakes tonight that were decorated to look like Cookie Monster.  We learned that wasn't such a great idea - the girls were covered in blue frosting and they didn't even eat that much!  So it was bath night again tonight.  But we weren't prepared for it to be bath night and this is where it SUCKS to have triplets and not be 'ready' for something as simple as a bath.

Usually one of us goes upstairs and gets the bath set up (minus the water).  We get towels, washcloths, shampoo, get the bath mat and faucet cover in the tub and get pj's, diapers and socks ready in the bedroom.  But tonight - the girls were covered in blue frosting and I didn't want them touching anything so we brought them up to the bathroom and Pete went to get all their stuff for their bath.  I started getting stuff in the tub ready and was running the water.  All 3 of the girls were doing what they always do - putting their toys in the tub.  But Hailey grabbed a cup and filled it with water from the running faucet - then dumped the water all over Emily.  They were NOT in the bath tub! I don't care about the mess - it's just water.  But what happened next was just complete chaos.  We have a ceramic tile floor in the bathroom - when it's wet it's slicker than ice.  And if you're barefoot - watch out.  Well Hailey dumped the water then tried to walk across the floor.  She was naked so I couldn't grab her to stop her.  Her feet went right out from under her and she hit the back of her head smack on the floor.  Her scream actually made the other two start screaming.  I say 'PETE!  ICE NOW!'  As I pick her up I look for blood - none.  Feel for a bump...nothing yet.  The girls are ALL screaming.  Finally we get them calmed down.  Hailey is gonna live and we give them a bath and get them in bed.  What a mess though.  It's what we get for not being prepared for something as simple as a bath.

Now it's time for us to go to sleep - because only Lord knows what time we'll be up!

4:45

That's a time...not a date.  And it's AM - not PM.  And it's what time the girls woke up this morning (and didn't go back to sleep).  WE. CAN'T. GET. UP. THAT. EARLY.  Grrrrr  This whole week they have gotten up at 5:00.  That's way too early and I don't know how to change it!  We aren't putting them to bed earlier - and I'm not going to put them to bed later because they're actually tired when they do go to bed.  So keeping them up later will only make them overtired and we'll suffer even more.  I'm just hoping this is a QUICK phase and they start sleeping later soon.

They girls went to Pete's parents today while he and I went to work.  Pete got out early though because there was no A/C in his building.  So we met for lunch, switched cars and then he went and got the girls and brought them home.

When I got home we went downstairs to LB's cool new abode and played down there for a bit while Pete whipped up some pasta and meatballs for dinner.

Then it was time for baths, pj's, books & bed.  They haven't been restless tonight so who knows if we'll get a good nights sleep or not.  I hope so - cuz I'm tired!!!!

6/27/10

So sleepy!  It was a long day - but a good day.  The girls are feeling much better and for that I'm so very thankful. We stayed home today again so the girls could really get some energy back.  We did go to the pool but that's still considered 'home' to us.  Plus - I didn't want to leave far from home either :)

Oh Lord

Now LB & I are sick.  Apparently this is day 3 for LB but he just hasn't said anything.  I knew he was hanging around a bit too much for it to be the weekend.  Good thing we have 2 bathrooms.....

*sigh*

Well this was by far one of the most challenging weeks ever since the girls were born.  Fevers, diarrhea, vomiting, coughing & congestion...the whole works all wrapped up in one - times 3.  Having to wake up the girls at night because they pooped and didn't wake up on their own sucked.  But I think and pray that we're on the very tail end of this.

Breakfast consisted of Jello (I've never made the girls Jello before - and it actually went over really well), granola bars, apple juice and then followed up with frozen Gatorade pops (outside for this yummy treat).  It was funny because one of our neighbors that we see quite frequently was walking by on his way to work and stopped to look at me.  He said 'Hmmm - Popsicles on a sunny, warm, summer...morning?'  Haha...he knows me all too well.  But not having kids of his own he couldn't quite get why on earth I would do something like this.  So I just said 'yup - we've all been sick and what you see is actually Gatorade frozen into pops - makes it good for them AND fun.'  Ahhhh...he sees the light and heads on to work.  Then another neighbor comes out around 9:30 when we were all in the pool and says 'Hey there - I've seen you home with the girls this week - everything ok?'  'Yeah -girls are sick...just trying to get them better.'  'You'd never know they were sick - they're always so good.'  This makes my heart melt and makes me smile :)   I was tempted to tell him to come hang out inside for the rest of the day but I'd be afraid he'd move and we'd get crappy neighbors in his place.  LOL

The girls spent some time at Pete's moms today so I could clean the house with bleach since that seems to be the only thing that kills the Rotavirus.  No worries though - I'm sure my efforts were futile because I'm positive I missed a spot and Hannah will find that one germ hanging out.  But the good news is that if they do get the Rotavirus again - they now have some immunities and hopefully it won't be nearly as bad.  It better not be anyway!

Rotavirus

Rotavirus it is.  Most common cause of diarrhea in children and every kid gets it.  This doesn't make it easier to handle though.  I changed Emily more than 25 times today and this is by no means an exaggeration.  She would poop, I would change her, she would poop again...and so on.  Then she would go maybe 1/2 hour without pooping...and then start the process all over again.  She's not eating or drinking much so I basically have been walking around the house saying 'you want a bite?'  'you want a sip?' all day long.  ALL DAY.  We had about 2000 'tea' parties today but instead of tea - there was juice in her cup.  She also got to eat whatever she wanted - which consisted of 1 peach.  Thanks to Titi for not eating that peach for breakfast this morning!

I was desperate for a break today after being home with the girls Tue and Wed.  Since Rosemary was home and offered to help - I dropped Hailey off at her house for some 'special' one on one time.  Hailey was feeling much better so I didn't mind her having the day away.  Life is much different with 2 toddlers instead of 3!  But I must say - Hannah & Emily gave me a run for my money.  My brother Pete came by and spent a good part of the day.  My mom came by.  Donna came by.  Little Brother was here for a bit.  And even with all of this - they were still cranky and whiny all day long.  ALL DAY.  So basically it went like this 'Hannah tummy hurts.  Hannah tummy hurts.  Hannah tummy hurts.  Hannah tummy hurts.  Hannah tummy hurts...'  'Emmie no feel good.  Emmie no feel good.  Emmie no feel good.  Emmie no feel good....'  'You want a bite?  You want a sip?  You want a bite?  You want a sip?   You want a bite? You want a sip?...'

Oh - and the water was shut off today.  Apparently there was a water main break in the area.  Cuz that's how we roll.

I spoke to the nurse at the girls doctors office 3 times today.  I was hoping for a cure of course.  Who wouldn't?  But in reality we're looking at another 1- 2 weeks of this.  No dairy at all.  Which sucks because they're missing their milk for sure!  That's the 1st thing they ask for when they get up.  Instead it'll be Gatorade, apple juice and popscicles.  Yeah...go ahead and ask about the pedialyte.  I have enough laundry to do with the way they're pooping thru their pants...not trying to wash more because they spit the stuff right back out and say 'no thanks' as they hand the cup back to me and then whine because their shirt is wet.

I have Jello mold in the fridge, Gatorade pops in the freezer and my ear plugs ready for Fun Friday with Mommy!

Did I mention how many diapers I changed today?

ok maybe it's Rotavirus

Hannah woke up at 4:45am and she was on fire.  The ear thermometer we use said 102.9 but I think it was higher.  Hailey and Emily woke up 5 minutes later so I put all 3 on the couch and gave Hannah some CVS Brand Tylenol.  Since the doctors office doesn't open until 9:15am we decided to take all 3 to the Children's Hospital.  So we get changed and change them and pack their bag and and and.  7am heading to the ER oh what fun.  Ofcouse we get attitude from the desk person, "they all need to be seen", said in a very here comes another family using the ER because they have no insurance voice.  As soon as the person found out we do have insurance they got a little better attitude.  The nurses and doctor we saw were excellent, no complaints there.  They treat everyone great you just have to get past the front desk staff.  Anyway the doctor took a look at the girls and think they have Rotavirus.  Luckily Hannah pooped while we were there so they sent it to the lab right away for tests.  Short story is it just has to run its course.  Fever should go away in a day or two and we get to enjoy diarrhea for another 4 weeks.

Time to get serious

The girls are still sick and now we think they might have C. Diff, google it.  It is a highly contagious bacteria infection.  It is no joke.  We need to send a poop sample to the lab for testing.  I know you want to know more about C. Diff but I'm on information overload from researching it online that I can not begin to put it in words.

The girls had a good day regardless, mommy was home with them today.  Aside from the diarrhea and fever they played and had a good time.  Hannah was a little "sicker" because I think she has a sinus infection and one of her back teeth are coming in.

Well we'll see what the doctor says tomorrow.

Drama

Why do people insist on judging me and my family?  This time it went a bit too far.  I'm leaving out the who/when/where of it because as much as I like to blog - I'm not about to air anyone's dirty laundry (you're not blog worthy material anyway).  But I just feel as though people don't know how to butt out.  Why can't people just be supportive?  Does anyone think it's easy for Pete and I?  Because if so - you're right.  It is easy.  Because we make it easy.  We decide to pick our battles and we choose them carefully.

We decided early on that our life would no longer be about the people around us but it would now be about our girls.  We don't have a pristine living room - we have a play room that has a couch for us to sit on.  Even then most times you'll see us on the floor with the girls.  We don't have huge house - we have a condo.  But it's still ours.  And we don't have 'things' in terms of brand name style - but we have what we need and we pay our bills on time.  I don't shop for new clothes unless they are on sale and then I buy in bulk for next season.  It's how we save $.  I don't let our kids watch TV.  I don't let our kids talk back to me.  I don't let them run in the street either.  I also don't let them over consume sugary sweets.  I don't let them go out in their pj's...and I make sure they are dressed every single day.  I make them brush their teeth twice a day and I also make them say please and thank you.  I don't give in when they whine or cry.  I don't let them play in their bedroom - it's for sleeping only (hence the playroom that used to be a living room).  I also don't make them eat everything on their plate before they are required to ask to be excused from the table.  And I don't let them eat if they're not sitting at the table where they belong.

I spend my days playing and my nights cleaning up after them.  I spend my waking hours worrying about the next illness and if they're going to be well enough to go on a playdate that we may have planned.  What I don't do is waste my time judging other people and how they raise their kids.  But I do take

Poop & Puke

These are the days I DON'T want to blog about because I'm too tired!  But it's part of our life.  I'll keep this one short.  Saturday night Emily woke up throwing up.  Then all day Sunday they were pooping up a storm...only for Hannah to wake up last night throwing up.  Diva that she is stated while on the changing table that she was 'sick and needed to sleep in mama's bed'.  Nice try kiddo - I'm on to your shenanigans.  We'll hang out on the couch - and you get the little couch!

I worked today but Pete stayed home.

Now they're sleeping - but since they all still have diarrhea and fevers...I'll be staying home with them tomorrow.

Happy Father's Day!

The internet wasn't working.  Kids are ALL sick now.  Throwing up, diarrhea and high fevers - three times around!

6/19/10

We have a virus running through our house.  It's the kind that gives high fevers, diarrhea and as we learned today - lots of vomiting.  We thought Hailey was doing better and decided to bring her along to our cousins 3rd bday party.  I hate that the girls miss out on so much due to being sick.  But unfortunately as soon as we got there Hailey threw up all over herself and Pete.  So LB took them home and came back so that Emily, Hannah & I could still enjoy the party.  But now Hannah has diarrhea.

What's left to say other than this week is gonna suck...

6/18/10

Hailey woke up with a fever - and still had diarrhea so Pete agreed to stay home with her while LB also stayed home so he could take Hannah & Emily.  I was kind enough to go to work :)

It worked out well because Pete was able to just focus on Hailey and he brought her to the doctor - which meant she got some much needed one on one time.  She soaked up every minute of it too.  She kept telling Pete 'No Hannah.  No Emmie.  Just Hailey!'  We need to spend more one on one time with them...they're obviously ready.

LB took Emily & Hannah to 6 Flags...but it was field trip day or something because he said the place was packed with kids!  Hard to manage little ones...even if he did only have 2 of them.  So it was a short trip but a fun one.

By the time I got home LB had to split and go to work for a bit.  Plus the girls were all a bit cranky from having such a long day so it was a rush to feed them, bath them and get them all in bed.  Hailey was sure to tell me she got to ride in Daddy's car today :)

Now - they are sleeping and my sister Amanda is on her way over to watch them (while they sleep lol) so Pete and I can head out for a bit.

6/17/10

Girls had a good day.  Spent most of the day outside because it was sooo nice.  Hannah sneezed today and had lots of gross snot.  Hailey looked at her and said 'Hannah sick?  You need medicine?'  And a little while later Hannah coughed.  She coughed a nasty congested gross cough.  Great.  Let's start the cycle all over again.  UGH

But they went to Pete's moms anyway.  I figured if she gets sick - I'll just go get her.

Then when I did go there to get them - it was HAILEY that was sick.  She was burning up! I left and went to CVS and bought some Tylenol (generic...not brand name) and gave it to her right there in the store.  We stayed at Pete's parents for dinner because we celebrated Father's Day dinner tonight.  Titi Rosemary made a great dinner as always and then we headed home.

Hailey & Hannah fell asleep in the car on the way home.  Emily sang to me all the way.

Got home and did a quick night time thing before they went right to sleep.

Pete is going to stay home tomorrow with the girls.  Maybe LB will take Hannah & Emily while Pete takes Hailey to the doctor.

6/16/10

The girls slept all night.  I don't care what anyone says - I LOVE YOU MARSHMALLOW MAKERS! I got ready for work while Pete got the girls ready for the day at his moms house.  Their new thing in the car is to sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' over and over and over and over and...you get the point.  Except their version is very different from the original.  It usually sounds something like 'TINKLE STAAAAR HIGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!'  It literally makes me LOL

On the way home tonight Hannah kept saying 'Or mucus!  or mucus!'  And I kept saying 'what???'  I had no clue.  I mean...what kid says 'mucus'?!  But then the 'mom' in me kicked in and it hit me - she was actually meaning to say 'OUR MUSIC'  Makes perfect sense...  So I put their CD on.  Because 'Tinkle Star' wasn't enough to drive me insane.  I now needed to listen to 'I've been workin' on the railroad' for the rest of the ride home.

We got home and had some play time before dinner.  Then Pete said 'Come sit down and eat please.'  Emily was the 1st one to the table...but only by a second because Hailey and Hannah quickly got their little behinds in their chairs as well.  And not a second later I hear 'Hailey get a prize?'  What?  Why on earth.......OH!  Emily got a 'prize' for listening last night and it was because she sat down at the table without being asked more than once.  They never miss a thing.

New 'prize' system is coming soon.......

6/15/10

Got up - no marshmallow for Hannah 1st thing this morning (well duh...after a night like last night there was NO WAY she was getting a marshmallow!).  We started the whole 'marshmallow' in the morning routine when they weren't sleeping/staying in their own beds.  If they slept in their own beds ALL night long then in the morning they would get one big marshmallow.  But that turned into staying in bed AND being good.  So when Hannah was told 'no marshmallow' with a reminder of how last night went - she replied 'But Hannah sleep in own bed all night.'  Ugh - really why does she have to be so smart?  But that didn't work - no marshmallow for Hannah.  One for Hailey & one for Emily...and it killed Pete and I.  But if we gave Hannah one - tonight wouldn't have been such a pleasure!  Because she sure was good tonight!  She even told Pete how she was going to be a good girl so she could have a big marshmallow tomorrow morning.

And don't think for one minute that bribing rewarding our kids for sleeping in their beds is the only thing we do.  You see tonight they needed their toe nails cut.  Anyone with kids knows this is a dreaded task.  Tonight I told them they needed their toe nails cut after bath and right away it was a battle.  I had to come downstairs to get the clippers and I just happened to grab a handful of peanut butter chips on my way upstairs.  I wrapped them up in a napkin and walked in the room saying 'Look!  Mommy  has a surprise for whoever gets their toe nails cut!'  Well don't you know I had 6 little feet wiggling in front of my face while the 3 of them said 'ME FIRST!'  Hmmm...I might be on to something here.  So I cut Hannah's 1st.  She had her eyes on the prize and didn't move.  I then counted out FOUR peanut butter chips (ok...this is huge to them because usually they get just ONE).  Then Hailey got hers done (though she needed some help from Daddy.  She asked if he could hold her - she REALLY hates having her nails cut).  She got her 4 peanut butter chips and then it was Emily's turn.  Who knew life could be made so easy by purchasing a $3 bag of sugar?

If it would only be this easy when they're 16.  "Please be home by 9:00 - maybe mommy will give you TWO big marshmallows!"

The girls did have a good day.  When I went to pick them up they were on their way back from the playground.  Shoes full of sand but they were happy as could be.

BAD BAD MOMMY!

We'll fast forward to bed time tonight.  >>  Ok the girls are all in bed.

Pete leaves to go hang out with some friends.  Hannah is still crying screaming her head off for daddy to 'rub back one more time!'  I had it.  It had been 30 minutes and she wasn't giving up. Emily and Hailey were sleeping. So I go upstairs, take the child proof stupid thing off the door that keeps it from closing all the way (so they don't lose a damn finger or two) and I shut the door.  Well don't you know that the little sh*t locked the door!  Reached right over her bed and turned the lock!  She didn't even get out of her bed!!!!!!!  Just reached over and boom...put me in COMPLETE PANIC MODE  calm mommy mode.  So I say as calm as I can:
'Hannah - unlock the door honey'
'NO HANNAH CAN'T!  DADDY RUB BACK ONE MORE TIME!'
'Ok - just unlock the door.  Turn the lock for mommy so I can come in.'
'NO HANNAH CAN'T!  DADDY RUUUUUUB BAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!!!'

In the meantime - I called Pete to find out where the key is to the doors.  This is how that conversation went:
Pete answering his phone 'Hello there!'
Me 'Where is there a key to unlock the doors upstairs Hannah locked me out - I'm gonna kill these kids!'
Pete 'There is no key.  You'll have to just use something.'
Me 'thanks I'll call you back'  But really thinking 'WTF do you mean we have no key?  How can there be no key to a fkg door that locks?  This is YOUR fault somehow!'
I get a knife (wtf?), a set of keys and I put my shoes on (I was ready to kick down the door but had to get some traction!).

Back at the door (I was only gone a millisecond trust me....)  Try the key, doesn't fit.  Look at the knife and think 'this isn't gonna work'  So I gear up to bust through the door.  I say 'Hannah - stay on your bed Honey...are you in bed?'  'DADDYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!'  Who the hell am I kidding?  I can't break down a fkg door!  The knife will have to do.....and it worked!

I put the stupid child safety thing back on the door and told Hannah if she got out of bed one more time she was sleeping outside (don't test my patience!).  Yeah...I know - idle threats are a big no no in the world of parenting but you know what?  I don't give sh*t tonight!  The kid locked me out!  ME!  And her biggest concern...was getting daddy to rub her back 'one more time!!!!!!!!!!!'

I'm laughing about it now...but I wasn't at the time.  Oh at some point I called Pete back to tell him that it was all under control.  I even saved the blame game for later :)

OMG

Ok - so I was browsing my recommended 'friends' on FB and I happen upon a page of a woman who has 7 kids.  Then I realize she's only 1 year younger than myself.  And I think 'wow - 7 kids...that's just insane'.  But you know what the insane thing is?  She has 2 sets of triplets PLUS an infant!  I need a drink just thinking about it..........

Pete and I took the girls to the mall today after their nap time.  And LB joined us - he brought with him our cousins 2 kids...one is 6 the other is 2.  So imagine our crew...four 2 y/o girls and a 6 y/o boy.  I had the girls dressed alike...if I only had one more outfit to match it would have been great.  Anyway - having 5 kids with us for only a few hours was enough to make me wanna pull my hair out.  That's just too many to keep track of.  It reinforced my plan to never reproduce again.  3 is a great number...I'll stick to that.

When we left the mall LB took his 2 kiddo's and we took our 3 and went our separate ways.  When Pete and I got home we had only pulled into the parking lot and figured 'let's go grocery shopping' so off we went.  The girls were a tad confused about getting home but then leaving before even getting out of the car lol.   Grocery shopping is much easier when the girls and I go solo.  Pete gets pretty anxious about shopping with the girls - but I'm not sure why.  I think because he feels the need to focus on them while also trying to focus on making sure things get into the grocery cart.  When the girls and I go solo - I just make sure I get 3 kids back into the car...as we have recently learned - sometimes not all the groceries make it.  (Sorry Kim!).  See the girls sit IN the cart - which leaves the BOTTOM of the cart for groceries.  Sometimes things slip out of the bottom - and if you're not keeping track (why would I?  Once I put it there...it's there!) then if it slips off the bottom of the cart...you end up feeding people you invite over for dinner just carrots cuz you have no chicken to offer.  But the point is - we have 3 kids sitting at the table!!!  :)

Anyhow - after shopping we came home and the girls were in wild moods.  They were running around like crazy.  Laughing, giggling, hiding...you name it.  Then it was time for dinner.  I made a chicken in the crock pot today (yup...that chicken made it home from the store).  Emily dumped her milk onto her plate full of food.  I put her in time out.  She pooped her pants while in time out.  She did NOT have a diaper on.  I'm pretty sure that was her way of saying 'take that mom!'  She finally ate her chicken and rice - sans milk.

Bed time has been easier lately and I think it's because we're putting the girls to bed BY 7:00.  Not letting them go beyond 7 seems to be key.  But no worries - I'm sure that as soon as we get use to this...it will change and we'll have to find another way.

But hey - we have it easy with ONLY one set of triplets!

6/11/10

Today was fun Friday with Uncle Joey.  The girls were in great moods today - plus they took a 3 hour nap!  They ended up going out to lunch and heading to the park to feed the ducks and play.  By the time I came home they were ready to eat dinner, take baths and climb into bed.

After they went to sleep - Little Brother and I headed out to the batting cages.  It was fun - but I'm sure I'll feel the pain tomorrow.

Good Day

Girls slept all night and woke up in good moods.  They got a big marshmallow for being so good.  The girls had a good day at Grandma's house.  I, daddy, had to pick them up today as mommy had a dinner to go to for work.  The girls didn't give me a hard time and sang all the way home.  Joey was home to help me get them in the house and dinner was ready so we sat down and ate.  Then we played for a little while before I put their pj's on.  Then we brushed teeth, read books and they went to bed.  They didn't put up a big fight, I had to "rub back" longer than I probably should have but they went to bed none the less.

Day 1??? who knows.

Time flies.  The girls are 2 years 4 months old.  They talk so much now, they can take their own shoes off and open doors, not so happy about that one.  They lock Grandma out of the house all the time.  Today they shut the door and said " bye bye mommy" as she went to the car to get something.  Today we were not messing around with bed time.  Dinner was ready when they got home and after we ate it was pj's, brush teeth and read books.  Kids went to bed no problem... Hannah and Hailey were not making a sound and then Emily, yes Emily walked to the door and said she pooped.  So I go up there and check her diaper no poop but lots of pee, as I do this Hannah and Hailey get up and say they pooped.  They start screaming that they need to be changed oh what fun.  We both have to come in the room to calm them down.  Tonight Hailey was good and got back in bed, it was Hannah's turn to be difficult I guess.  They must have a system worked out.  But now they are all sleeping and all is quiet.

Ugh

I'm slowing losing my gusto to do this blog.  The girls did sleep over Pete's parents house last night.  Sleep was great - I don't think I even rolled over once my head hit the pillow.  You probably could have had a party in my room and I would have slept through it - all I knew was that I didn't have to listen for the kids....

Today sucked.  Not blogging material.  Just more drama.  This time family drama.  I got a bad phone call before leaving for work.  Lovely way to start off a Monday.

Then I'm driving to work and thinking 'it sucks to not kiss my babies 1st thing in the morning.'  So I drove to my in laws to say good morning.  I also brought some diapers they needed and the girls sun hats.  When I knocked on the door this is what happened (pretty much all at once).  The 3 girls were right there.  I handed Hailey the sunhats and she started to shut the door - she wasn't ready to go home yet.  (Duh...she had just woken up).  Hannah was just looking at me - I could tell she was processing the fact that I had to work (I was in work clothes) and she somehow knew I wasn't there to pick her up.  Emily looked at me and said 'Emmie work with mama' and started to walk out the door.  3 totally different personalities.  But I got my kisses and hugs, they got their sunhats and diapers.  :)

Bed time tonight was rough.  Hailey was over tired - we missed the boat on getting them to bed by 7.  They didn't actually get in bed until 7:30 so by that time Hailey was done.  She cried and screamed and bargained and begged and demanded things....for almost 45 minutes before falling asleep.  We went in there a few times - but not many and it will get less and less.  I have a feeling she knows we'll keep coming in the more she cries.

Why couldn't they come with instructions?

6/5/10

Gotta love Saturday's!  The girls woke up at 5:30 (because it's Saturday).  I got up with them, had some milk and cereal, hung out for a bit, waited for Pete to get up...and then by 8:00 they were BEARS!  They were cranky and whining about everything.  So we fed them some oatmeal and put them down for naps by 9:00.  They slept for 2 hours!  And I'm happy to say they woke up in better moods.

Peter, Becca and Owen came over and we headed to the park for a picnic.  We had pita sandwiches, fruit, veggies and chips.  We only stayed about an hour at the park then we headed home.

Then....Amanda and Christina came over and we all headed to the pool for the 1st time this year!  The girls all had a blast.  They went in the baby pool and the big pool - and they all even went underwater!

We came home, Andy came over - played for a bit, had dinner then it was time for baths, pj's and bed.  Bed time tonight was not fun.  They were cranky, over tired (we did a lot today) and they just couldn't settle down.

Pete and I went to Walmart and Lowes (those trips are what we consider a night out these days).  Now we're home just chillin' with Little Brother.

6/4/10

I can't believe today is June 4th already!  Where does the time go?!?!  I know the blogs have been short this week but I've been tired!  So another short one today.

It was fun Friday with Uncle Joey.  Amanda and Christina came over to visit.  The girls took a 2.5 hour nap (sleepy heads today).  When they woke up - they went to McD's (Amanda took Christina home to nap).  But he had to leave because there too many people there and they wouldn't leave the kids alone.  I guess people just kept coming over to the girls while they were in line to get food and by the time they got food - they decided to take it to go (Bummer because he could have just gone through the drive thru!).  So they took the food to Grammies house and hung out with Grammy, Cousin Christina and Auntie Manda.

When I got home from work the girls were home and ready for some play time.  We played, ate, played some more and then did the night time thing.

Now it's time for sleep.

Doctors visit

Hailey has had a chunky gunky cough and a runny drippy nose for 10 days now.  The spiteful person in me wants to post something nasty and send it to the people who think they know how to deal with sick kids.  But since I've decided not to give them any more blog space since they don't deserve it...I'm going to post about what we actually did.

We waited out the 'cold'.  Again - don't forget that a cold lasts a lot longer in our house.  So 10 days for a cold really isn't that bad.  But since it was only Hailey, the other 2 didn't catch it, and it wasn't getting better - I thought maybe it turned into a sinus infection.  So I made plans to bring her to the doctor this afternoon.

They girls slept all night last night (thank you thank you thank you) and I brought them to my mother in laws today.  They seemed to be in pretty good moods (thank you thank you thank you again).  I called the doctor and made an appt for 3:30.  Decided I was going to take all 3 with me so I didn't have to go back and pick up the other two...we could just head home.

Here's how it goes when you bring 3 toddlers to an appt (and remember...only 1 of them was seen).  And this was a PERFECT day.  I left work at 2:30 so I could pick up the girls at 2:45.  They were ready to go except that 2 of them needed to be changed real quick.  So I changed the 2 and put all 3 in the car.  Strapped them in and off we go.  The doctor's office is only a short drive from there so we arrived in the parking lot at about 3:05.  I got all 3 out of the car and it was raining.  No worries...my girls love the rain because we actually go puddle stomping in the rain.  It's cheaper than buying umbrellas and rain boots.  (If you can't beat 'em - join 'em!).  So we head inside.  Work our way up to the 2nd floor and down the longest hallway we ever have to walk.  Into the office we go - we check in around 3:20 and then sit down to play with the toys (yes - the very same toys I swore I would never in a million years let my children touch or play with).

The whole way there I was telling them 'Only Hailey is going to get on the scale today.  It's her turn.'  Because if just one of them gets to do something - it usually causes a meltdown.  But if you warn them and keep them posted on what's coming next - these things are easier to handle.  Once we were called into the back they all came along, walking nicely, saying hi, waving and being very good.  Hailey got up on the scale (21.2lbs!!!!) and then Emily said 'my turn' and started to get on the scale.  I gently reminded her that it was Hailey's turn today and she can't step on the scale.  Hannah helped me remind her by saying 'No Emmie.  Not your turn.  Hailey's turn.'  Then Hailey had her temp taken and we all headed down the hall to the exam room.

Once in the room - they started the 'pop pop' mantra.  We talked about how all of them would in fact get a pop pop even though it was only Hailey's turn to be examined by the doctor today.  We discussed what color pop pops they were going to get (Hannah would like purple, orange, yellow, green, pink and red).   The 3 of them were all up on the exam table when the doctor came in.  Right away Hannah pointed to Hailey and said to the doctor 'Only Hailey today.'  Hailey sat there and let the doctor listen to her heart and lungs, look in her ears (one was red and has some fluid...probably a few days away from a full infection), look in her mouth and check out her nose.  She has a sinus infection :(   While she wrote out the Rx for antibiotics she asked if I would like her to check out the other 2 real quick since they were there.  Normally - I would have said sure.  But since I made such a big stink about this visit being only for Hailey - I said no thank you.  If they start to show signs of being sick - I'll bring them back in.  She totally understood.  Have I ever mentioned how much I love the girls doctor?  She's amazing for sure.

We headed out of the room and over for pop pops.  They all got to choose ONE pop and were very excited to pop it right in their mouth too.  We said our goodbyes and headed back to the car.  The elevator was packed and it was hard to get the girls on because they don't like to share such close quarters with strangers.

We got to the car and strapped in - all by 4:15.  Then we headed in the direction of home.  We passed our condo and headed for CVS so we could fill Hailey's Rx.  We went in.  This was nail biting for me because the last time I took the 3 of them to CVS to fill their Rx's (all 3 were sick only a few weeks ago) they were monsters!  But they were very good today.  They sat in the chairs while I gave the pharmacy tech the Rx and let her know we'd be waiting for it.  Then we went shopping.

We bought 3 bags of teddy grahams.  Headed back to the chairs and the girls sat for 30 minutes.  Not a peep out of them.  Just one teddy graham after another.  I will be buying these in stock from now on.

The Rx was finally ready and we headed home.  Got in the house about 5:10.

So there you have it.  One child sick.  One of me.  3 of them.  One visit to the doctor.  Not one meltdown.  Not one whine or cry.  Not one misstep, accident, fall or boo boo.  I didn't even have to change their diapers in this period of time.  All of this - and it took from 2 hours and 40 minutes.
